For more than 100 years, NMH has been making the most of the summer months with rigorous academic programs, innovative teaching methods, individual attention, and bountiful opportunities.

Summer Session programs include:

·         Rising Scholars for students entering grades 7 through 9

·         English for Speakers of Other Languages-RS for students entering grades 7 through 9

·         English for Speakers of Other Languages-CP for students entering grades 10 through 12

NMH Summer Session students come from all over the U.S. and the world, and they each have their own goals. For some, it’s a chance to experience a rigorous academic environment, possibly for the first time. For others, it’s an opportunity to build on their existing foundation and get a jump on college preparation.

Our student population is diverse and worldly; over the years since the Summer Session began, we have been pleased to welcome students from 126 countries and all 50 U.S. states. This ensures that everyone meets new friends from all over the world. One of the measures of our success each year is how difficult it is for so many of the students to leave at the end of the summer. They build powerful connections to our community and make lifelong friends. That's our goal: to provide a life-changing experience for each student.

STUDENT COMMENTS

"The NMH summer session offered me a lot in terms of both academic and extracurricular activities. The classes are demanding and extremely useful to anybody who wants to enrich his academic background. The program also included an abundant cultural diversity. Additionally through this session I was able to get close with adolescents of my age from countries around the globe and learn about their habits and their cultures. Moreover the NMH summer session offered a great variety of sports that fulfill every student’s expectations.
The best thing about this summer session was my daily class. I had a remarkably gifted teacher who possessed a great amount of knowledge and also he had a magnificent way of transmitting his knowledge. The lesson was never boring and every single one seemed different, challenging and intriguing."

"Personally, I chose physics as my major and soccer as my sport. I would certainly recommend the specific program to other students given one condition: if they are ready to work hard and study every day. If they fulfill this condition then this program would be a great and fruitful experience for them."

"One of the best things was definitely the people there. Most of the students were great guys. In my mind, the classes were very interesting and, of course, the weekends were fantastic; lots of trips and dances took place then. I also enjoyed the cultural fair, when I talked about my country."

"NMH Summer Session is an amazing summer program which offers a wide range of activities as well as the opportunity to meet peers from all over the world and, therefore, to broaden somebody's horizons. Students can select their own major, minor and sport according to their preferences. There is a mandatory 2-hour study-hall every day (except for Saturday), while the students activities center is always open during the free periods. Students can also sign up for trips every week; on these trips, which take place every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, students go to incredible places like Six Flags amusement park, mountain coaster and New York. Several events, games and activities are also open to students during the afternoon free periods, while the all-school dance takes place twice during the summer session. Consequently, students can never get bored; they always find something fun to do."

"NMH summer session is a great program which will be very useful to all students who will take part in it. The program itself will offer the student a rich academic background to step on, on their chosen fields however the experience itself was what, for me, was more valuable. The program itself is not about, for me, that much of an academic experience as it is a social one. In NMH we were told that this is an academic session and not a summer camp. However for me that was a mistake. Academics are important and a summer session should focus on them, however the social aspect of it, has to be an equal, to say the least, aspect of it. I have learned a great amount of stuff in class, but have an equal or perhaps even greater amount of stuff outside of it. Japanese, Chinese and Spanish and tons more, culture and ways, food and behavior, and for me these were the most eye-opening experiences. I got to know people from all over the world and make friends with them. What is more valuable than that?"

“The schedule of the program seemed very tiring at first. However, when I arrived there and spent some days with that schedule, I understood that it could not have been better. There is a morning session of classes (3 hours), lunch, afternoon session of classes (1.5 hours), sports, dinner and study time. During the day, however, there is plenty of time to rest, mostly after lunch and dinner. The classes are very interesting and teachers will make sure that every student has understood 100% of the class. Also, the life on campus is great. Advisors are nice and would help students with anything they face. Overall, the camp was excellent in all aspects.” - Ioannis Larentzakis Adamidis

NMH had a really organized daily schedule which included lots of hours of classes and studying every day but exercise and fun was part of the play too. Everyone was superfriendly and more than willing to help us with every single problems. The teaching material was exciting and the lesson was organized in a fun and contributing way. There were thousand things to do in our free time and trips (NYC, Boston, Six Flags, Holyoke Mall etc) were always there to entertain us. The campus was huge and it combined nature and supernew facilities. Our advisors were really close with us and we could approach them for everything we needed (although they could get a little strict sometimes). We made awesome friendships that last even now and I think everyone would agree that we had one of the best summers of our lives. I would love it to go back even for one day and live it all over again.” - Maria Maragkelli

“NMH summer session is a 5-week education program that allows students to learn and expand their knowledge. NMH also hold lots of extracurricular activities and trips to nearby cities as well as Boston and New York. Living in the beautiful and huge campus really helps make this experience even better.” - Maria Taki Evdokia

“The staff was friendly and the teachers experienced... As it was multicultural, I could meet people from all around the world and learn how to coexist and respect their culture. We all wanted to share our way of life and learn from each other.” - Niki Apsokardou

"The best things about this program were its courses and friendly faculty and the variety of spaces one could hang out in. The program's duration is ideal for students who want to find out what student life is like in the US."

"Northfield Mount Hermon Summer Session can fulfill any student's expectations regarding summer programs, trips, and unforgettable experiences. There is a big number of major and minor courses, as well as sports, that students can choose. High academic standards combined with fun trips and activities make NMHSS an excellent summer program and an experience of a lifetime."

"Northfield Mount Hermon summer session is an excellent summer program for students who want to combine learning with entertaining. While all students have to attend their classrooms in a daily basis (apart from Sunday) there are many trips and other activities they can take part in during the week. What makes NMH summer session different from all the other schools is the great environment that surrounds the school and the NMH community spirit that all members of the community share. Last but not least it is one of the longest summer programs which means that participants have the chance both to visit more places and to create tight bonds with each other. All in all, attending the NMH summer program seems to be a fantastic experience for those who want to spend their summer in a different and creative way. "
